New UWSP club has formed - They have put up maps to the courses at their website.
Things are finally looking up for us here in Stevens Point in regards to disc golf. 46 baskets to date and more on the way!
We need lots of help now!!!!
First, the County has installed The second nine holes at Standing Rocks Park (just to the right as you drive into the lodge). This course is hilly and tight with duel tees on most holes. We are starting on the third set of nine holes which will require a lot of work on our behalf (constructing tees and such).
Standing Rocks will be the location of a tournament on April 30, May 1, 2005. The Standing Rocks Open will be a stop of the Wisconsin tour and will be played on a 36 hole temporary course set up on the XC ski trails. Amateur divisions will play a 24 hole layout on April23. It will be a fun time but a lot of work to setup. Contact Randy at 3416668 if you want to be involved.
Yulga Disc Golf Course. This course is nearly complete and is now open for play. Thanks to all those who volunteered their time and labor for putting this course in the ground. We are seeking someone with a small end loader to help move wood chips and do finish work around tees. We still need the sponsors to help complete the tees.
Mead Park is likely to stay as a nine hole course. We may want to do some redesign and must make new signs.
McDill Pond Disc Golf Course. This course is out of the ground until further notice. Thanks to Consolidated Papers for providing the land and to the Common Council for approving the course. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped build the course.
As you see we have lots of holes going in-but only at the rate we get the help. Please pitch in!
Sponsors needed! we still need sponsors for about 12 baskets let us know if you can help. Permanent and annual sponsorships are available.
Work days ahead There will be several work days ahead in developing our new courses. Everyone who plays the game should help, at least once and a while. Let us know if you are available. Call Randy at 341-6668.
Leagues
Local Disc Golf
Leagues are on hold til weather warms!
All area golfers are welcome to join us in organized play and to see just how
well you stack up. There are different options for fun play.
Random Draw Doubles
Meets every Thursday night 6:00pm at Yulga Disc Golf Course. the start up date
is yet to be determined. In case of rain, we will not play that week and
continue until we have played eight sessions.
Format-Teams of two will be drawn from two even pools, Advanced and Novice pools are determined from a players average in the league. New participants will automatically be started in the novice groups. In case of an odd number of players an advanced player will play "California" Each team will play one round of 18 holes best shot doubles A players best six scores will be averaged to determine their final league average.
Prizes will be awarded at the end of the session to the best overall average, most improved, perfect attendance, player having the most fun and possibly a few other titles as attendance permits. Attendance is important for scoring and prizes

Sunday Minis
On some Sundays at noon we will be holding mini tournaments of one round (or
two). Divisional play means that you will play against players of your own ability.
We are building another nine holes at Standing Rocks. We are raising funds from local sponsors. If you know anyone who can sponsor a hole or if you wish to help with the grunt work, please call one of the contacts below.
